Congratulations to ACC Taiwan Foundation (ACCTF) on its 25th anniversary! Since its founding in 1995, ACCTF has supported the international exchange of Taiwanese artists and arts professionals, as well as welcomed artists from around the world to collaborate and explore the vibrant arts scene of Taiwan.
Led by Chairman Douglas Tong Hsu and Director Rita Chang, ACCTF has built an incredible network of connections among nearly 300 alumni, nine Trustees, and more than 100 “Group 33” members—ACC’s active, art-loving patron groups based in Taipei, Taichung, and Tainan. The ACC Taiwan Program has supported individuals and organizations across the arts sector, from researchers, curators, and arts administrators to visual and performing artists with practices ranging from traditional to contemporary, and everywhere in between.
In 2020, ACC Taiwan has continued to support the next generation of arts leaders in Taiwan, and maintain deep relationships with its alumni community. Some connections can be traced in a clear lineage, supporting two generations of Cloud Gate directors Lin Hwai-min and Cheng Tsung-lung or Wang Xin-xin and her nanguan students the Chiu sisters. Other ongoing alumni collaborations—from Rahic Talif and DJ Hatfield’s visual and sound installations to Ray Tseng’s recent lighting for Pichet Klunchun’s No. 60—have been forged across disciplines and divides. If we speak of this network as an ACC Family Tree, ACCTF might be visualized, perhaps, as a banyan—its roots aerial, the strength of connections in full view.
