It is with grateful hearts that we announce ACC Hong Kong Director Josephine Wai’s retirement. Ms. Wai was appointed as Director in January 2013 and in the 10 years she has been at the helm of ACC HK, she has tenaciously grown the reach, impact, and connectivity of ACC Hong Kong on a local and global scale.
Ms. Wai brought more than 20 years of experience in arts administration and management to ACC, working closely with artists and arts groups in Hong Kong. From 1999 to 2011, she was the Director of Arts Support for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC). At HKADC, she played a key role in the development of arts support policies and grant systems which have established the Council as an important resource for artists and arts groups in obtaining funding support.
Ms. Wai: “As my time at the Asian Cultural Council comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey I have embarked on in the last ten years. Working alongside trustees and board members, colleagues and patrons has been an extraordinary privilege. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to join you all in fostering a vibrant community that celebrates the richness of artistic expression. I am also carrying with me cherished memories and lifelong friendship with our countless talented artists. It has been an absolute pleasure to have known and collaborated with you. I wish the ACC the very best, and I hope our talented artists continue to achieve great success in the future.”
Hans Michael Jebsen, ACC Hong Kong Chair Emeritus recognized Ms. Wai's time with ACC saying, "Josephine has been a true blessing for the ACC HK. She put her heart into her work at ACC with immense diligence, dedication, and engagement. Apart from her wise council and profound analysis, Josephine’s humanity and noble ways to interact with her fellow human beings are hallmarks that leave a proud legacy of leadership."
With a deep love for the arts and support for ACC’s grantees and alumni, Ms. Wai has always embodied our mission of cultural exchange. We are thankful for her decade-long commitment to ACC and look forward to her continued presence as a perpetual member of ACC’s growing family!
