Alisan Fine Arts New York is pleased to present Themes and Variations, featuring the work of 15 artists, including HUNG Keung (ACC 2005) and WEI Ligang (ACC 2005), who explore the use of Chinese Ink within their practice. Featuring artists from Hong Kong, mainland China and the US of different generations and backgrounds, the exhibition seeks to showcase various approaches to Chinese ink painting over the last half-century. Steeped in an ‘alternate’, non-western art history, these artists nevertheless move beyond this tradition, adopting innovative materials and ways of creation while maintaining the spiritual energy of ink. The exhibition is organized into three themes: Signs and Symbols, Spiritual Landscapes, and Poetry and Painting.
