The Global Justice movement is made of many movements and is one that encompasses many terrains of struggle. On March 19th, Hong Kong filmmaker and ACC grantee Fredie Chan will screen his award-winning short film, Beautiful Life, with a Q&A afterwards. Beautiful Life is a docudrama, aimed at helping Indonesian women labor activists to act and tell their stories through film production. The film received the Gold Award (Open Category) in the Incubator for Film and Visual Media in Asia awards (IFVA). We'll also screen a second film, Yaya, directed by Justin Cheung, which examines a Philippine domestic helper's relationship with a family she works for in Hong Kong, and the family she left behind in the Philippines. Both films will connect to the current exhibit, particularly around the Global Justice movement and how workers resist enormous forces largely out of their control.
