Anthonello, Japanese esteemed early music ensemble, will perform a unique program of Renaissance music as the Shogun may have heard in 1591, when Jesuit missionaries first introduced Christianity and western culture to Japan. Late Renaissance and early baroque repertoire from Portugal, Spain and Italy, as well as Japanese folk songs will be performed by this virtuoso instrumental ensemble. Anthonello was formed in 1994 by its three members: Yoshimichi Hamada (Leader & recorder and cornetto), Kaori Ishikawa (viola da gamba), Marie Nishiyama (harpsichord and historical harp). Tadashi Miroku (countertenor) joins the group for this performance.
