Independent curator and university professor Dayang Yraola with artist Datu Arellano, present their latest sound collaboration conceived last year as visiting artists at the Kyoto University Center for South East Asian Studies. Creating a web-like sound installation, it features a sensor-activated listening station with audio composites drawn from films participating in the Visual Documentary Project 2019. Depicted from the films--“Through Songs We Share Stories” by Dony Putro Herwanto; “An Unquiet Land” by Nguyen Thi Khanh Ly; “Screaming Goats” by Thunska Pansittvorakul; “That Night” by Jeremy Luke Bolatag; and “Unsilent Potato” by Sein Lyan Tun-- are voices of grievance, storytellers, environment, recitations of criminal cases on drugs, human trafficking, domestic and child abuse, terrorism, cyber exploitation and petty crimes In this work, the artists explored the centrality of the VOICE (TINIG) in the discourse of justice.
