Suzuki Minori has started her six-month fellowship in New York.
Suzuki will research literary and artistic practices in the U.S. and study how minority stories have been told there to discover new or alternative storytelling and writing styles in Japanese. Through exchanges with artists, scholars, and organizations engaged with literature and art that focus on the stories of marginalized people, Suzuki will also explore cultural communities that are open to people from all walks of life.

Profile
Suzuki has published critical essays on literature and film from the perspectives of gender and sexuality studies, queer theory, and feminism. Several articles have been selected for literary reviews such as the Kyodo News Literature Review and the July’s Review of the Asahi Shimbun discussion platform.
