Leung Kei-cheuk aka GayBird is a multidisciplinary artist, composer and electronic musician who explores the unique realm of sound through works and performances that utilize sound, visuals, and technology. In his large-scale media art performances he has produced to date, he has collaborated with various artists, designers, musicians, and technicians from around the world, expanding his international activities. During his 2-month fellowship in Japan, he aims to observe and study the latest art and technology, engaging with media artists to develop new ideas for works and performances, and to foster new collaborations in Hong Kong.
Profile
Graduated from the City University of Hong Kong with master of philosophy in creative media and Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with Master of Music degree. He has been active as music director, composer, performer and producer. His music works have been nominated or awarded in Asian Composer League music Competition, Hong Kong Film Award, Taiwan Golden House Film Award, and others. His media art performance was commissioned by M+ Museum, Hong Kong New Vision Festival, East Kowloon Cultural Center, Hong Kong Visual Art Center, etc. He has exhibited his sound installation in Ars Electronica Festival (Austria), OzAsia Festival (Australia), Digital Art Festival (Greece), EXIT Festival (France), etc. and received “3D and Interactive” award in Lumen Prize in England.
