International travel is on pause, but international exchange continues!
National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA) and ACC Taiwan have partnered for their second 2020 Taiwan Biennial Online Symposium. This livestream event brings together curator Nobuo Takamori, Taiwan Biennial artists River Lin and Yeh Tzu-Chi, and Myanmar-based performance artist Moe Satt (ACC 2017) in conversation around their personal practice and performance art across Asia.
Moe Satt is a seasoned practitioner of performance art. He is the founder of Beyond Pressure, an international festival of performance art in Myanmar, and has been involved in residencies and bienniales around the world. On his ACC Fellowship, he engaged with contemporary artists and curators throughout the U.S., spending time in New York and serving as an artist-in-residence at Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago. "So many of us from outside Myanmar don’t know much of its history and culture," Moe Satt noted in a 2015 interview, "How do you create art that reaches both foreigners and local Burmese?" Pictured below is one such moment with Moe Satt's Memoir Cocktail at Defibrillator Gallery, distilling personal and national narratives within the performance piece.
