ACC is deeply saddened to hear the passing of Shuji Takashina (ACC 1967).

After embarking on his fellowship journey, Takashina continued to support ACC's activities and initiatives with kindness and leadership, serving as a member of the Blanchette H. Rockefeller (BHR) Fellowship Fund Raising Committee, to establish a second endowment for ACC's Japan-United States Arts Program. He also served as a member of the executive committee for the ACC's 50th Anniversary Charity Project in 2014.

Takashina was a leading scholar of Western art history in Japan, while at the same time striving to introduce and popularize art from all ages and cultures. After retiring from the University of Tokyo in 1992, he became involved in museum management and cultural administration, serving as Director of the National Museum of Western Art and Director of the Ohara Museum of Art, as well as Chairman of the Council for Cultural Affairs, an advisory body to the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and President of the Japan Art Academy.

Our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
