The 2021 Busan Biennale unveils impressive workmanship from creatives in the region with the opening of its Sea Art Festival hosted by the Busan Metropolitan City, Busan Biennale Organizing Committee.

Filipino visual artist Leeroy New (ACC 2015) contributes with his astounding assemblage entitled “ANITO.” He shares, “ANITO is the manifested spirit of the surrounding natural environment taking the form of a tentacled bamboo and plastic hybrid.”

Leeroy further notes “under the strange circumstances we’re in, this is the first time I’ve worked on a piece without having physically visited the site. It was definitely a new and interesting challenge that I could not have pulled off without the full support of the festival.” He also acknowledges his team from Manila, Festival Director Ritika Biswas, and artist Bonggi Park for steering the bamboo construction of "ANITO."
