Acclaimed contemporary Chinese new media artist and ACC Alumni, Lu Yang specializes in imagery, animation, video games, and pop culture through digital technology combined with neuroscience and religion. DOKU or "Dokusho Dokushi", which means "we are born alone, and we die alone", was created as a hyperrealistic digital avatar in 2020. 

DOKU is presented in this exhibition as a soul travelling across the six realms of Buddhist reincarnation. DOKU is a representation of Yang's views on time and space, objectivity and subjectivity, the essence of life and existence at a philosophical and religious level.
