Introduction Asian Cultural Council Celebrating 40 Years of History On this anniversary, the Blanchette H. Rockefeller Fellowship Fund Committee, a dedicated group of former fellows and friends, is organizing a charity art auction to raise additional funds for the ACC's Japan-United States Arts Program. Twenty four artists and friends of the ACC are giving art pieces to be sold at auction. Founded in 1963 by John D. Rockefeller 3rd and known as The JDR 3rd Fund, the ACC has supported over 4,000 artists and art specialists. The foundation's grant program focuses on individual fellowship grants to artists, scholars, and specialists from Asia undertaking research, study, travel, and creative work in the U.S. Grants are also awarded to Americans pursuing similar activities in Asia. In addition, the Council provides limited support to organizations for cultural exchange activities between Asia and the United States. The Japan-United States Arts Program celebrates its 20th anniversary. Established in 1983 with funds contributed by the Seibu Saison Group and Seiji Tsutsumi, the Japan program receives annual support from The Saison Foundation. This event is being organized by the Mori Art Museum with the cooperation of Sotheby's Japan. A second auction will take place on December 11, 2004 at the AJC Auction in Tokyo.
